Future Education is part of a jointly run operation between Norfolk County Council and the Norfolk police called Operation Encompass.
Encompass has been set up to help schools provide support to children who have been present at incidents of domestic violence.
Prevent safeguards people at risk of radicalisation in a similar way to safeguarding processes designed to protect people from gangs, drug abuse, and physical and sexual abuse.
Prevent is one part of the government’s overall counter-terrorism strategy, CONTEST.
The aim of Prevent is to:
The Counter-Terrorism and Security Act places a duty on specified authorities, including schools and colleges, to have due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism (‘the Prevent duty’). The Prevent duty reinforces existing duties placed upon educational establishments for keeping children safe.

Future Education believes that online safety is an essential part of safeguarding and acknowledges its duty to ensure that all learners and staff are protected from potential harm online.
Future Education identifies that the internet and associated devices, such as computers, tablets, mobile phones and games consoles, are an important part of everyday life and that we need to teach our students to make the most of the of this incredible learning tool.
Future Education believes that learners should be empowered to build resilience and to develop strategies to manage and respond to risk online.
All concerns about online safety will be reported to the Designated Safeguarding Lead in accordance with school policy.
At Future Education we are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all of our students who have social emotional and mental health needs. We understand the background traumas that our students have experienced; loss, bereavement abuse, rejection and exclusion. We want to build secure relationships and support this with understanding the neurological impact their experiences have had on their development so that we can help them navigate school and home life.
We use a trauma informed and attachment-based approach to managing behaviour and bullying which recognises that students communicate their needs via their behaviour. We believe that all our students need an emotionally available adult to help them cope with everyday social situations and challenging interactions.
It is a fundamental part of our role that all staff are emotionally attuned to the needs of the students so that where bullying occurs both the victim and perpetrator are managed appropriately and the right support is put in place.
Future Education recognises that all forms of bullying, especially if left unaddressed, can have a devastating effect on individuals; it can create a barrier to learning and have serious consequences for mental wellbeing. By effectively preventing and tackling bullying our school can help to create a safe and supportive environment, where pupils are able to learn and fulfil their potential.
